How to Apply

​

We thank you for your interest in the Schuylkill County CPT Jason Jones Military Scholarship

 

A $1,000.00 annual award will be granted to a distinguished graduate of Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania who aspires to serve our country through military service.  Preference will be given to a graduate who has been accepted to a Service Academy, or who will serve with the military in connection with a pursuit of higher education through an ROTC or similar program.  Applicants must exhibit the strong moral character of a Green Beret.  The selection will also be based on a commitment to the military, grade point average, leadership qualities, adaptability, and empathy towards others. Applicants from the following school districts will be considered: 

 

Blue Mountain School District

Mahanoy Area School District

Marian Catholic High School

Minersville Area School District

Nativity BVM High School

North Schuylkill School District

Pine Grove Area School District

Pottsville Area School District

Schuylkill Haven Area School District

Shenandoah Valley School District

Tamaqua Area School District

Tri-Valley School District

Williams Valley School District

 

To be considered for the SCHUYLKILL COUNTY Scholarship, please submit the following requirements:

  1. 2024 Schuylkill County CPT Jason Jones Military Scholarship Application (link below)

  2. Resume (maximum of 2 pages)

  3. Two letters of recommendation from high school teacher, coach, or other significant mentor (family members excluded)

 

**All applications must be submitted by Saturday, May 4 2024.

Grace Motuk - Minersville. Grace is entering the ROTC program at La Roche University to obtain a degree in National Securities Studies and enter the Air Force as an Intelligence Officer.

Leigh-Anne Minnick - Blue Mountain. Leigh-Anne has enlisted in the Air Force National Guard to pursue a higher education in law enforcement. She hopes to work in the 93rd Special Operations Wing.

​

Cole Schaeffer - Blue Mountain. Cole has enlisted in the United States Marines with the goal of becoming a member of the Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team.

Torie Konkus - Blue Mountain. She will enter the ROTC program at Campbell University, NC. Her goal is to obtain a career in Security Forces in the Air Force.

​

Cody Kramer - Blue Mountain. Cody has enlisted in the Air Force with the goal of becoming an aircraft loadmaster or work in aircraft maintenance.

​

Angel Arroyo - Minersville. Angel has enlisted in the Air Force to pursue work in engineering with various types of vehicles.

Eagle Foundation - Blue Mountain High School
CPT Jason B. Jones Memorial Scholarship

The Eagle Foundation Captain Jason B. Jones Memorial Scholarship is a $1,000.00 award established to honor the legacy of Jason Jones, BMHS Class of 2003, USMA, Class of 2007, Green Beret, 3rd Group Special Forces, U.S. Army. Captain Jones was tragically killed in the line of duty during a special operation in Afghanistan on June 2, 2014.  One award will be given to a male or female Blue Mountain graduate who aspires to serve our country through military service.  Preference will be given to a graduate who has been accepted to a Service Academy, or who will serve with the military in connection with a pursuit of higher education through an ROTC or similar program. Applicants must exhibit the strong moral character of a Green Beret. The selection will also be based on commitment to the military, grade point average, leadership qualities, adaptability, and empathy towards others.
